Podcast: Migraine and Headaches: No Need to Suffer

by Dr. K on August 30, 2010

Migraine & Headaches – No Need to Suffer
Migraine and headache are one of the most common complaints physicians see in their office. There are 30 million migraine sufferers in the United States. That represents ten percent of the population. Unfortunately only about fifty percent of patients suffering from migraine and other headache problems get treatment. This is unfortunate as there are many excellent options for treatment of various types of headache and migraines. The main goal of headache management is to prevent headaches. Individuals affected with 3 or more headaches a month should be on preventative therapy. Headache abortive therapy also is very effective, for acute migraine attacks. Narcotic and frequent use of over the counter medications should be avoided due to the risk of addiction and rebound headaches. There is no need to suffer with headaches in the twenty first century. The first step is for you to pick up the phone and call to get an appointment with a neurologist specializing in headaches and migraine.

In this episode of the Sarasota Neurology Podcast, Dr. Kassicieh discusses migraine and headache — some of the most common complaints physicians see in their office.
